"Helaine Treitman understands the soul of tango. And even better, she knows how to transmit the joy of this sensual art form to her students. My dancing was transformed by Helaine's outstanding teaching ability." Dr. Christiane Northrup, Visionary Pioneer and NY Times Best-Selling Health & Wellness Author.

More comments from Helaine's delighted students

I signed up for a one day Private Coaching Intensive with Helaine.  We worked on tango fundamentals and my technique has improved substantially as a result.  I feel more confident as a follower too.  Helaine was very patient, supportive and encouraging as an instructor.  I feel changed as a person by having been in her presence.  She is a beautiful and inspiring woman who listens and cares about her students.  I have taken tango classes, but never before have I had the opportunity to speak so openly with an instructor about my inner experience of the dance.  Helaine understood me and was able to take me deeper into the spirit of tango.  She taught me from the heart and elevated my tango from the inside out.

By accident, I made a very desirable discovery. While browsing on the internet, I clicked on a link regarding a free Tango e-course for men, "Permission Seduction Secrets" being offered by Helaine Treitman. I found the tango tips in these 9 lessons to be very helpful. I was as if she had personally written this course for me. She not only knew and understood my problems, but had the solutions that really worked. It was like discovering a new tango world, of things not taught to me before. With good feelings about my progress, I signed-up for the "Tango Improvisation Mastery" program.

Another desirable, accidental discovery was that the style of Tango Dancing that I admired and preferred doing myself, was the style taught by Helaine. I never knew before that it had a name and was called "The Villa Urquiza Style."

I have completed the first 6 modules of Section 1, "Advanced Tango Fundamentals". Applying the techniques and concepts for the embrace, walking forward, backward and to the side, pivot, pauses and emotion and attitude, has produced very satisfying  results. The synergistic, advantageous results of all these fundamental elements interacting mutually, produced a combined effect greater than the sum of the separate elements. My life as a Tango Dancer has changed.

Since I began my study and practice of this program, I have had several complimentary experiences. Some illustrative examples follow:

Oscar Casas and Ana Miguel performed at the April Milonga of the  'Argentine TangoLovers of Long Island". After the show, Oscar was dancing right behind me with a member of our club. When the Tanda was over, he was standing next to me. He shook my hand and said, "Good dancer, musical, in-time". I thanked him very much. My partner was very impressed.

At one of our Milongas, a tanguera that has an Argentine guy as a steady partner was sitting alone, as he was dancing with someone else.  I invited her to dance. After the Tanda was over, she had surprised look and a smile on her face. I could read her expression, "I didn't know you could dance so good", and she said, "Thank you very much".

At another Milonga, I went over to a group of ladies at a table and invited one to dance. She was hesitant, explaining that she was a new dancer and hadn't learned any steps yet. I told her she would not need to do any steps. Her friends all encouraged her to dance and we did. After the Tanda was finished, she had a big smile on her face and said, "I was really dancing","That was 10 minutes of heaven on earth". As I led her back to her table, her friends were all applauding, and she gave me a kiss on the cheek. I think I made her day, but she also made mine.

One of the more experienced tangueras in our club told me, "She really felt so comfortable dancing with you, and really trusted you". I took this as a great compliment.

A group of our club members went to a newly-opened Sunday night Milonga, "AstoriaTango", that received excellent reviews from several dancers.  Many good dancers and several professionals were there. I danced with a lot of different tangueras. Four, in particular, were very good dancers that I invited to again dance with me. They all happily accepted and enjoyed the dances. I left the Milonga feeling very good about my dancing.

In a new development, other dancers have started coming to me at our Practicas and asking me how to do things. One couple said they had been watching me dance, and asked if I could help them with their tango walk and their embrace. I told them that I definitely knew how to help them, and I did.

These experiences have all had a positive effect on my confidence and emotional attitude. I think the Big Bad Wolf or the Lion King are in there, ready to emerge onto the dance floor.

In ending this Testimonial, I personally give all my endorsement, praise, accolades and thanks to Helaine Treitman for her support and encouragement, and for her teaching skills and the programs she has developed and implemented.

Prior to enrolling with Helaine at Naples Tango I had never played a musical instrument, done any significant dancing, taken a dance lesson or felt like I had 'rhythm'.  I really wondered if I could ever properly interpret the 'beat' in a musical selection so that I might appear to be dancing to the music being played while leading my partner to do the same.

Since beginning my course of tango lessons I am delighted to see a marked improvement in my musical interpretation, my sense of balance while dancing and my confidence as a man who can lead his partner to dance with me with style and elegance.  All of this has confirmed my original reason for wanting to learn tango - dancing tango is fun!

Helaine's 'Permission Seduction Tango Mastery System' stresses the basics of Argentine Tango and instills self-assurance on the dance floor.  My lessons thus far have given me much more self-confidence while dancing and I eagerly look forward to my future lessons with her that I may increase my knowledge and enjoyment of tango.

"Although I am a seasoned dancer and versed in many different styles of dance, Argentine Tango has from the onset required quite a bit more thought and effort than all of the other dances I have learned over the years. Helaine's ability to articulate the fundamental structure's in such a pragmatic fashion has shortened my learning curve immensely. To convey such information in a clear and concise manner is testament to her study and dedication to this dance. If you're looking to get a foot hold on this dance with the least path of resistance I encourage you to take Helaine's course' sooner than later, you will avoid years of agony and confusion and come to find her guidance to be invaluable throughout your tango journey. I too recently started a dance teaching career and to no surprise I find myself mirroring her thoughts and technique's in my classes and watch my students live and in person grasping the same information as I have with smiles on their faces. Thank you Helaine for your willingness to share your knowledge with the world. I look forward to one day sharing many tandas with you on the dance floor!"

"At a practica last night, received outstanding feedback. One follower told me I have improved dramatically, another said "lots of passion" & my wife said "best dance ever!". Things are working."

We had been dancing Argentine Tango 3 yrs. when we took Helaine's boot-camp. In only three weeks she improved our posture, balance and embrace so we are smoother, stronger and more secure in our dancing. We expect to return to Helaine often for more of her excellent instruction. We strongly recommend Helaine to all tango dancers.

I'd been taking Argentine Tango classes for a few months in San Francisco when I found myself uprooted to SW Florida last year. Although I had learned a lot of patterns, I never felt grounded and my ability to dance effectively would change depending on who was my partner. After reviewing the available teachers, I tried private lessons and classes with Helaine and after about 9 months, I feel that I am getting a firm foundation to lead any girl to a dance she will never forget.

"Hi Helaine,

"I consider myself a Tango Junkie. I have been taking lessons for a few years from several instructors in the Toronto area. Tango is truly an international dance that you can dance everywhere in the world. I have walked into Milongas in Wellington, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia where the dancers literally embrace you into their community. Naples Tango Club was no different, warm friendly people, all sharing a genuine love of tango.

"Prior to meeting me, my fiancé Margaret was not familiar with Argentine Tango. We attended one local Milonga and she was hooked, immediately wanting to learn.

"Since we have our vacation home in Punta Gorda, Florida, I searched the internet for milongas and a local tango instructor. My search led me to Helaine and her "Permission Seduction". I immediately signed up for the "Permission Seduction" on-line tango e-course. The focus was fabulous and provided me with a new approach to tango. It improved my tango skills while providing insight into Helaine's teaching style.

"Just prior to our vacation in Florida, I saw Helaine's boot camp advertised. We immediately registered to take it during our 3 week stay in Florida. It was a 1 hour drive from Punta Gorda to Naples, but proved to be well worth the long drive 2-3 times a week.

"Helaine introduced Margaret to Tango through her unique approach to walking, embrace and connection. I had never seen another instructor use Helaine's method. Margaret quickly learned how to be grounded and feel the connection. It was when we moved to pivots that I was completely amazed at how quickly Margaret was performing balanced and grounded pivots. Helaine's reaction and mine was one of amazement. Helaine's core approach to tango has given Margaret the foundation to be a skilled Tanguera and "Queen" of the Milonga.

"I frequently assisted the local instructor in Canada as an extra lead for his beginner and intermediate classes. I have danced with countless beginners and intermediate dancers, but none were as grounded and connected as Margaret had become through Helaine's approach.

"Through my numerous tango lessons over the past few years, I have learned many patterns but none of these instructors focused on the walk, connection, and grounding the way that Helaine does. It was not until I went through Helaine's boot camp that I finally understood the connection and being grounded. My tango has taken on a whole new dimension due to the instruction Helaine provided me. I know that my tango has improved so much that Margaret and I will become the envy of the other dancers at future milongas.

"Helaine offers a new and fresh approach to learning tango which is not only beneficial to the newcomer, seasoned dancers will dramatically hone their tango through Helaine.

"Thank you for a fabulous experience with your Boot Camp.

Rob and Margaret"

Success Story
New Naples Tanguera Sue Thomas

On Friday, February 18, Sue Thomas flew out from near Champagne, IL to come to Naples for her Permission Seduction™ Accelerated Private Boot Camp, a 12-lesson-in-3-week program that she chose to complete in 1 week!  She had visited Naples once before, and seeking tango here after having gotten started up north, found my website and signed up for this newsletter. Sixteen months later, Sue was convinced she wanted to study with me, and made the decision to do it now! We had never communicated before by phone or email.

Before starting her lessons, we did my preliminary 6-page "Permission Seduction Diagnostic Evaluation™" for Women, which helped us evaluate the priority areas to focus on in Sue's studies that week. One thing Sue mentioned several times during the initial exercises was, "My balance has gotten worse as I've gotten older". Well, to me there was nothing "old" about Sue, especially considering her energy, stamina, and desire to dance!  I told her that shakey balance had nothing to do with age, but rather she hadn't yet discovered the specific skills that would help her truly master her balance. By her third day, we both said "Hooey!!" to the "poor balance with age" myth because Sue's balance, especially when walking backward by herself, the real test (in stiletto high heels, no less), could put most 20-year-olds to shame!

For this boot camp, we focused on the first 4 of the 9 modules of my "Permission Seduction Tango Learning System™" for women.  Sue completed her boot camp with flying colors, doing 2-3 private lessons per day, practicing an additional 2-3 hours that week with my intermediate male students, taking a workshop with Jeremias and Mariela before the Sunday Tango Brunch, and taking a class or coming to dance in the evening. She did indeed master her balance, as well as develop a more powerful and alluring Tango walk (forward and backward), improve her pivot and her ochos, start fine-tuning the technique of her molinetes (turns), begin to develop a more authentic Tango embrace, and perhaps most importantly, start to understand the 3 fundamental attitudes that will make her a superior and fascinating dancer!

"Your approach to tango appeals to me because it challenges me to try to integrate my physical self with my spiritual and emotional self. It's all about integration, attempting to allow every part of ourselves to be expressed. I like the tension, the sexuality and the beauty, the quest for perfection and the precision....the essential elements of our humanity that drive us toward meaning and expression. After all, I am not sure we have much else here on earth, as humans anyway--except our quest for something we will never reach, our futile but necessary journey toward perfection. Outside of God, it's art....yes, art.

"Strangely, I did not "seek a solution" because of your website. It was because of what I experienced in the introductory class with you: an encounter with the depth of tango, not the technique. When I seek and when I encounter, it is not for the thrill but for the commitment and for the journey toward something mysterious, something inexplicable. For me, tango with you (to put it in overused terms) is a path, not a destination. I embrace your approach, and I am thankful for it. . . . I thank you for your guidance and your gentle instruction."

"Helaine,
Meeting you and tango was like coming back to see the world and receive its beauty and uniqueness.  I rediscovered what it’s like to feel alive, full of emotions and passions. I started to feel once more the sun on my skin. Like a sunflower, I reopened myself to life. Each time I met your gaze, your eyes communicated to me a message of strength and courage.  Thanks to you, Helaine, I remembered Pamela the little girl, full of joy, and hope in the world and in humanity. For all this I want you to always know that that I care for you very much and I’ll never again forget that life is a precious gift and must be lived with all one’s energy, courage and love within us. . . with all the passion that we’re capable of  . . .   the passion of Tango."

Pamela Tabarrini, 43, Actress/Director, Foligno, Italy

"Hola Helaine,
Yes, I'm the same one and have mentioned your name over and over since then. I've told our local group about the by far best tango instructor ever. Your teachings were breakthroughs and I carry a summary of your comments in my pocket daily. . . .
I was planning to arrange a bootcamp with you but with my daughter now going to Buenos Aires for an immersion program, so guess where I'm going. . . . Terri and I plan to be in Ft. Meyers Beach again this coming February or March and I absolutely want to pre-arrange some classes and attend any practicas and milongas you have.  Another thought: I would love to have you come to Northern Michigan for weekend instruction. . . .We would market you extensively (and I know that some of our Snow Birds are Naples residents in Winter). I'm rambling but only touching the surface. Your instructing was superb. If I could write praises you could use in your marketing, I would be only too glad. Appreciatively, Charlie"

"It was Helaine who brought me to Tango. She helped me rediscover a side of myself I’d neglected. She taught me a new way of dancing, which became a way for me to express my immense love of dance and all that through this dance you can communicate - your mood, fears, joy, everything! Thank you, Helaine, from the bottom of my heart."
Elena Latini, M.D., Radiologist, Perugia, Italy

"The first thing that changed in me deeply since I met Helaine was my relationship with the opposite sex.  Tango’s been a training ground for relating to others, for work on expression and passion. I learned a lot from Helaine’s elegance and style.  I think that not only all of us here [in UmbriaTango], but also Perugia and Italy owe a lot to Helaine."
Luigi Formisano, Psychologist, Perugia, Italy

"While searching the web I came across of video of Helaine dancing tango. I thought "I need her to teach me". Helaine has a very beautiful organic style of instruction and uses very descriptive examples and exercises to help you understand the essence and feeling of tango. She has a very gentle way of drawing out the inner dancer in you. It was truly wonderful experience and I can't wait until our next lesson."
Kim Ocuto, Rome, NY

"Tango’s turned my life around 180%!  I’m grateful to Helaine that in this later phase of my life I have this marvelous uplifting experience!"
Francesco Sertori, Pharmacist, Perugia, Italy

"Helaine,
People who are passionate are like the spices of our life.  Their enthusiasm adds flavor and depth and excitement to our bland existence.  You are one of the most passionate people I have run into in many years and it's just fun to be around you and watch how the electricity almost flows from you to your class."

Gene Helfand, Naples FL

"Helaine was my first tango teacher, the person who introduced me to and made me fall in love with tango.  Yes, we all have passion, but when you take a class it’s great to find a teacher like Helaine who awakens the passion in her students.  She helped me tremendously with my posture, elegance and style.  But beyond her role as a teacher, Helaine inspired me as a woman.
I’m sorry she’s leaving Perugia . . .

Marcella Marincolo, Pharmaceutical Consultant, Perugia, Italy

"Excellent article about you. It does not fully describe your passion for tango and your talent for teaching it. I can't wait until we have our next lesson."
Patrick Neale, Naples

"Tango improves the quality of our lives.  It’s about living an emotion with the body, living an emotion with the woman.  And I think it’s the same for the woman with the man. When I discovered tango I fell in love with it immediately, the way you fall in love with a woman. And since I fell in love with tango, I haven’t stopped loving it.

"Through tango we transmit values: the values of sociality, of the embrace, of the emotions, of listening to oneself, of living passionately . . . for me tango has meant living with passion.

"We recognize Helaine most of all for her values. She’s a person who will stay in my heart. She’s done so much for us, for tango and for the Perugia community."
Lorenzo Truffi, Psychologist, Perugia, Italy
